Only 4 Missionaries in the entire MTC!! What??? December 2, 2015

Only 4 missionaries in the entire MTC?? WHAAT?

Yep, thats the truth! haha i dont think that has ever happened in the history of all mtcs. all the filipions and all the other missionaries left to their missionas, so there were only 2 districts left in the mtc until
friday when the new in take ( batch) of missionaries come in. the senior batch is 8 elders and my district is only 4  missioanaries; 1 elder and 3 sisters, me and my 2 kasamas :) it felt sooo lonley! so technically there are 12 missionaries totall in the mtc right now but the 8 other elders were tracking

wow what a week!! it went by so fast! I am loving the MTC! agian, all we eat is rice rice rice haha but its a lot of fun. filipions but katchup on everything, and only use spoons!

I am trying to figure out a way to organize this email but im not sure how so ill just jump around with the detials :)

me and my 3 kasamas are STL - sister training leaders! yay! :) its not a big resposibility becuase now that the other misssionaries left, we are the only 3 sisters in the mtc but more are coming tommorow ( Friday)

On tuesday we had time to take pictures with all the departing missioaries, and oh my goodness! I can get use to it here haha i feel like a celebrity being the only white sister here! I think I took more then 100 picutes with sooooo many filipions! one of the elders gave me a folded heart made from a 100 peso bill, but before he gave it to me he asked for 1.00 in exchange haha so i basically payed for his love ;P haha it was so funny! but filipions are soooo giving! I ve been given so many things already! I even got some "strechy pants" but they are so short on me because the filipion girl was so tiny!

So sacrement meetings are awesome! all the LAngage training missionaries meet together( 25 M. before they all left) and all the filipions meet together! anyway, I was asked to give a talk on the Blessings of the resserection half way righ before they passed the sacrement, i guess i should get used to suprise talks for when i am out in the filed haha but I felt like I did good. I love how the assignmetn was "blessings" of the Resurrection! It is so true, we are so blessed because of that!

we have 2 new "investigators" (pretend) it is such a powerful experiace to teach them! it is hard beacuse of the langauge barrrier but wow the spirit is definatlly teaching these people! the spirit is so viatl! without the spirit, missionary work wouldnt be possible!

Thanksgiving!!! yay! I hope you all had an amazing thanks giving! it was weird cause i didnt even remeber it was thanksgiving until later that day! for gym I wore my USA shirt and carried around my little american flag haha all the samoans, autriallians and filipions were so confused! haha but It was special for me! we also got to watch the provo mtc thanksgiving devotinal, wow it was sooo awesome! :)

today we got to go the the Manila temple! wow it is soooooo pretty! it is also really tiny! all the missionaries in the mtc went to a session....hahah there are only 12 of us so it was possible! I am so graeful for temples were we can be sealed with our familes for all time and eternity! I loev thinking of my family and the families I will be able to teach here in the philippines in the temple!

The filipions loooove christmas. they celbrate it starting in september and through all the BER months sept. nov.dec! I miss seeing the decorations at home but its fun to experaicnce diffrenct cultures of christmas! :)

The lanaguge is going good, I just want to respond in spanish to everything which is funny because I dont even really speak spanish! haha

I love missionary work!! I thank heavenly father everyday for allowing me this oppertunity to dedicate my whole self to his work and inviting others to come unto Christ! I have learned the incredible power of prayer!! I invite each of you to pray to our Heavnly father in all that you do, he will strenghthen you adn bless you. He is waiting to pour out his blessings and love. He is our father and wants to hear from his children :) There is great power in the spirit. I have also learned without the spirit and without love missionary work is not possible. Pray for the companionship of the spirit as well :)

Oh! on wedneday we were able to go tracking at the temple and try and talk to people in Tagalog....haha it was there that I realized I knew no Tagalog! but I know it will come :)

I love this work! I am happy and healthy! I am so grateful for the incredible support and love that I feel from all my family and freinds! thank you for all the prayers, you are all in my every prayer!

Have an amazing week knowing that Sister EVans LOVES YOU!
WIth all my Love,
Sister Evans 12/3/15

November 26, 2015 MY FIRST WEEK AS A MISSIONARY!!!!!

1st WEEK AS A MISSIONARY!!!!

Guys!! I don’t even where to begin and my fingers are shacking because I was so nervously excited to be finally be able to email my family ahah and i only have 45mins which doesn’t help the shaking fingers haha

Oh my goodness being a missionary is such an honor!! I absolutely love this work, I have come to realize how important and vital this work is, and I am apart of it!! yeeppe!! I cnat even remember the beinging  of the week here at the MTC because I have been sooooo busy and I feel like I’ve been here for ages already! but I love it! its a lot of work, but work that is so important I don’t even care that I cant keep my eyes open by 7 pm haha

Well, my second day here at the MTC Elder Renlund, one of the new apostles came to give us a devotainl and then 2 days ago one of the Asia area authorities came to give a devotional, gosh they were both soooo good and talked about our missionary purpose. oooh and I was asked to give the closing prayer in the devotional with Renlund, and got to shake his hand!! what up!!

I AM LITERALLY the only white girl here!! there are 3 other white elders from Utah. but seriously the only white girl haha its awesome! my common names are; sister blue eyes, sister magadana (beautiful), sister curly ( my crazy hair) haha I  am in a district of 4 missionaries! the smallest district you will ever hear of haha but all of them are huge samoans!! They eat all my left overs haha and everyone else’s as well.

food- rice rice rice rice and rice! Its all really good haha just a lot of rice then some more rice! the meat is sweet and we always have veggies with it! they are feeding us too much and we don’t walk at all here sooooooo don’t be surprised if i look a little chubbs! Filipinos don’t use forks to eat with just to cut so, I now only use a spoon to eat my food with, it is so effective try it!!

The hardest thing to get adjusted to is all the different nationalities, my district is awesome but they all speak Samoan and a little English so I am just in class reading my scriptures and they are there just chatting away. Its fun and all I just miss Americans. luckily the mission president is American, oh my goodness he is such a people person and always gives hugs which I love!!

Oh I am in a three some. so I have 3 companions and the one elder in my district doesn’t have a companion so the four of us are all kasamas. but the 2nd night here one of my kasamas needed to go to the ER ( she’s fine now) but mom if I ever need the ER, trust it because it is almost nicer then most USA hospitals hahah well kind of but I just thought I would let you know that hahah I stayed up til 3 am in the ER with her, the day after I was up till 3 am the pervious night from traveling to the Philippines which is a super long story in its self, but moral of the story is that I am here safe and sound and I am loving it!

Tagalog- wow I am so grateful for the gift of tongues, it is real! also I am so lucky to have some Spanish under my belt cause it has helped a lot with pronouncing the words. I can now testify, share a scripture, make small talk and pray! and its only my 1st week sheeesh my brain is going to explode!! but its sooo much fun!

I have eaten some weird things already, one of them being an entire fish with the eye balls still in it! I just couldn’t look at the eyes when I ate it haha but actually it was really really good!
mom I miss your food!! I cant believe you made 300 roles and a bizillion pies all with one hand!! sheeesh my family is awesome, thanks for helping mom with all the baking, I wish I could have been there to help.

We have a progressing investigator!! We have to teach in tagalog, but it just ends up being in English because we still know nothing. But oh my goodness I am addicted to the spirit! The spirit is what taught the lessons, especially because she knows hardly any English! I asked her to be baptized and she said YES!!! ahhh I can’t even tell you the pure joy I had, I wanted to cry! This is why I am here, to testify of Christ and his love for everyone!  We taught her all about families, I testified of families and thought about my loving and supportive family the entire time. I am out here in the Philippines for families. They are central to gods plan, Heavenly Father has blessed me soooo much with a wonderful family I would be selfish to keep happiness and and not share it with these people! I love you guys! thank you for all that you do! oh my goodness, you guys make me miss you all so much, but this work is worth every moment of it! I cant wait to get out in the field!

there is soooooo much more i want to say but i am running our of time. also i nearly cried when i heard we weren’t able to send pictures because these computers don’t have a software for it! I have taken so so many pictures so expect about a million when I finally get out in the field!  I just wish with all my heart there was a waY!! ahhhh....

My heart is filled with so much love for this gospel, for my friends and most importantly my family and our heavenly father. this work is wonderful and I am so blessed to be one of Gods dedicated servants. This church is true. Wish me look with all the rice! oh and tagalog! I hope you guys had an amazing Thanksgiving!!

I LOVE YOU!!!!!!
